Just for the Helena of It began as a fun run, but we immediately imagined it becoming something much more. Paired with our desire to support local nonprofits, we felt the race could become something amazing. We envisioned Just For The Helena Of It as an annual event for the Helena community to look forward to each year as well as an opportunity to support our much needed local charities and nonprofits. The Friendship Center is our first cause and ALL profits from the event will be donated to them in recognition of their work and of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The mission of The Friendship Center is to be a safe haven for those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The Center seeks to empower our community to flourish in relationships free from violence. All services are free and confidential, and they serve all victims and survivors – including men, women, and children of all ages. In 2019, The Friendship Center provided 6,482 nights of safe shelter to 147 adults and children affected by violence. Not only did they provide shelter, they provided support services to 568 individuals. With more support from Just for the Helena of It, imagine what further good they could accomplish!
